Moses—servant of God and leader of God’s children from slavery in Egypt to the border of the Promised Land—has now passed from the scene. Now, with the promise that God will never leave or forsake him, God calls Joshua to lead His people into the Promised Land. In the process of entering the Promised Land, the children of Israel were instructed to drive out the inhabitants of the cities before them. Throughout this adventure the children of Israel will learn that victory comes not through the strength of their military, but through faith in God and obedience to His Word. Remember that when you have challenges that seem as strong as the walls of Jericho, God often uses the most simple ways to bring them down.
